Tai Chi Qigong

What is Qigong?

Often referred to as the Great Grandmother of Tai Chi, Qigong (pronounced chee gong and meaning 'energy practice') is an ancient Chinese practice, which harnesses the power of the breath alongside intention based mindful movements to move energy through the meridian system thereby promoting health and well-being

The Shibashi form is influenced by meditative qigong, health qigong as well as the martial art of Tai chi. It is a beautiful flowing set of 18 movements designed to gently align and strengthen the body, whilst also calming the mind. As mind, body and breath become one, the body finds homeostasis, harmony and balance to allow true restorative relaxation and healing.

Through regular practice many people have experienced significant improvements in physical health and mental well-being.

Qigong is a gentle and compassionate exercise where we listen to and respect the limitations of our bodies rather than forcing anything. So often, we strive, push and punish our bodies to burn calories, get ‘fitter and ‘thinner’, whilst ignoring what our bodies and minds really need to cultivate true health. This can lead to us feeling more exhausted, depleted and dissatisfied.

The Shibashi form is perfect for beginners as well as more experienced practitioners.
Although traditionally performed standing up, it can be done sitting in a chair or wheelchair.
Movements can be adapted and modified to suit all levels and physical abilities making Qigong accessible to everyone

"One of the best gifts you can give yourself is the permission to slow down and simply‘be’.
I invite you to leave your responsibilities at the door and for a few precious moments,
allow yourself to enjoy the simple pleasure of being in the present moment. This is the mode in which the mind can calm, the body can relax and and we can create the conditions for healing and nourishing mind, body and spirit"
